Things are lookin up….

4 May

Things are lookin up....this past week has been pretty productive….from getting back from Texas, to planning the move, to securing more clients and updating the design website.

I need a nap.

And it’s only the beginning, because now i actually have to look at all the crap in the apartment and start packing it…..*puts head in hands*….I’m gonna be throwing a lot of stuff out. Most last seasons clothes I’ll just have to give to the good will, but I dont mind since it’s for a good cause. But the desk is going, and pretty much the only thing that’s staying is….dang…..the tvs of course, and the tv stands……the dining room table….and dang….i gotta sell my bed. :hissy: What if i just take my clothes, my tv, and my computer and start fresh? wouldnt that be easier? I mean, sure i’d have to deal with the issue of having to toss everything out, but isnt there a city dump somewhere??

There should be a company that handles this…..like a company that you can call and say, look…i need to move this date and i need the old place to be cleaned by this date ….how much do I owe? *giggle*

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeey…… that might be a cool little startup….you know me and my startups…lol.

Anyhow, there’s nothing left but to pack and cry as i fill the boxes….:hissy:

eh well….new city, new start…….more fun.

Praise God for being able to do all this…….*sigh*….He so amazing.

Good day, ya’ll…..

Picnic

PHOTOS FROM OUR TRIP

It’s over….the weekend is over. Our weekend started Friday afternoon where we all boarded a plane through Continental Airlines with a 2 hour and 40 minute ride to Houston, Texas. It was a cool plane ride…we got there on time with just a little sleep at about 11:00pm. After that, the adventure officially began.

On our way from Baggage Claim, Bri called the hotel to make sure we had a room and that they knew we were on the way….BUT, they didnt have our online reservations and therefore, only had a suite left and oh yeah….we were going to be “required to pay the difference”….:???:…drama went on for about 15 minutes and ended with a “we’ll see you in a minute” directed at the Manager. After that, it was a shuttle ride to the Rental Car Depot. Once there, we were met with a higher rate than expected, and were finally able to get the price that we were quoted when we realized that the reason the price was so high was because the guy was trying to get his little commision by adding insurance and giving us a more “enhanced” mini-van. :wtf:

ON the way to the hotel we listened to the FM shuffle since we werent sure which stations were cool. Finally we made it to the hotel and after about 30 minutes of stress, got a pretty OKAY suite. The suites in Houston are different than the ones in LA. The one in houston had 2 Queen sized beds, a pullout couch, and a refrigerator with a pretty big bathroom. THe ones in LA have a pretty big bathroom, with 1 KING size bed and a seperate living room style area with a little mini-kitchen. We were happy though.

Once we were settled and had jumped on the beds enough, we headed out to meet some of the RHOmeos. It was a very INTERESTING night to say the least…:chat:…all i have to say is…Inebriated, is NOT the same thing as inuberated and MOST people should know what the word means by the time their in college…lol. ALSO: there is no such thing as having a degree in Doctor or a degree in scientist. Let’s work on that as black people…. After hanging out for a while, we were HUNGRY. So we went to the Dennys that wasnt too far from our hotel. Dinner was good, but after dinner, there was a little guest scurrying under the table next to ours. We screamed *all of us*, jumped up on the seats *literally*, and ran in the other direction when we thought the coast was clear. The manager’s response to our running to the entrance and trying to explain about the mouse: “oh okay”. :???: :???:

After Dennys, we went back to the hotel and hung out for a while until we fell asleep. THat was about 5am. We woke up at about 10am, popped in a Chris Rock dvd on the Portable DVD, laughed for a little bit, and then knocked out for a while. I woke up a little later and was doing the yawning stretching thing when i realized that DMario was sitting in the room….lol…I didnt realize until i had stretched out a little because he was sittin gin the chair behind my bed and he hadnt said anything while i was awake.

After 2 showers, we were told that we had to switch to a different room since it was lower in price and the room we originally asked for. Then there were 4 more showers, a trip to walmart *where EVERYTHING was cheaper than it was in Cali* and a pullout bed stealing excursion. Hey…smaller beds meant, less room and plus there wasnt a pullout couch and we had an extra person with us now…lol….6 people became 7 when DMario got there.

Before we went to the picnic, we stopped at Sonic for “Brunch” so to speak. It was WAY past breakfast and JUST past lunch….so we figured WHY NOT….since we hadnt eaten anything except for the few snacks we bought at Walmart. If we were smart, we would have gotten alcohol for our own hotel afterparty, but we didnt know the liquor stores in Texas close at 9…..:wtf:…who knew?? :hissy: The liquor stores in Cali close at 2am. *sigh*….anyways….that was the first time I’d eaten at Sonic and they had GRILLED CHEESE! WOO HOO! They got a gold star, just for that…..*giggle*.

And ON to the picnic. I must say, we had a lot of fun and met a lot of people. I felt like we danced all night. Good thing i wore flipflops throughout the day and not those boots i packed. I think i woulda cried. All of the people were cool before inebriation…*giggle* . The RHOmeo tea was especially good…designed to allow you to drink for a long period of time without feeling it TOO much…or for some, not at ALL.. We strolled, danced, drank, and talked from 4pm til 7pm. At about 7pm we went to the plots on the Prairie View campus so that we could see what it was like over there. I’d been to the plots at the Universities in ATL, but not any others. HBCUs are cool about having plots for the different organizations. Schools like USC dont do stuff like that…. But it was cool to see the plots and take group photos around the campus.

We went back to the picnic and danced, drank, talked and mingled until about 1am. After that half of us went to Jack in the Box, and the other half to McDonalds….When we got back to the hotel DMario was sickly and we were all tired…so we wolfed down the food, figured out the sleeping arrangements and knocked out until Bri woke us up in what would have been a Home Alone reinactment *when everyone was running through the house trying not to be late* if we werent all still half sleep and….well, black.

So the synaposis of the hotel situation. There was another Brianna Goodman who registered for the next night. When the manager called the online booking company that we used, they figured it all out. Apparently, he’s going to be reimbursed for having to put us in a suite for the first night because the online booking didnt send BOTH reservations, but ONE since they thought it was the same one.

We were late in returning the Rental Car, but it didnt matter since Andrea called and let them know we would be late. We made it to the Gate for the last call, gate closing for the Flight. Again, we were the last ones on the plane and sitting ONCE AGAIN two rows from the restrooms.

It was fun……would i do it again? Yes….but i must admit that i missed incog a lot. :heartbeat::heartbeat: Glad to be home and back in the drones of having to go to work this morning. :hissy::hissy:

1 more month and 1 more week until Costa Rica…..THANK GOD…..

Last night was okay…we watched the Apprentice and 48 hours…..both were new, so it was good. So sad to see Bren go…:hissy: …he was one of the nice ones on the Apprentice. :hissy: I really think Alex HAS become a loser since joining Net Worth….Kendra is a cry baby….the black guy is really cool….except for when he said “Kendra’s had her turn, now it’s mineS”……I thought, ah hell……that’s it for all black business folks….:hissy:….. I know there are a lot of executives thinking, “If he’s the best of the best *non-college grad*, and Donald Trump picked him…..” When i apply for my next job, i might have to walk in there and say, “No ones resume is better than MINES”. *sigh* :wtf:

Where are they now?

15 Apr

God….so i finally did it…I pulled out my High School Yearbook today…and thinking on the past 5 years since graduation…..and compiling all of the information I’ve received…..most of the girls i graduated with are pregnant, married, or in the military. No one knows where any of the guys are…So where did we go wrong? DID we? I mean…..Google Name seraches produced more info..but much of the same content, married, few graduated from college, mostly pregnant….the teachers? all gone…..scandal, with only two left behind *the cool ones*.

Did i miss the boat? No….I think I just jumped out when it was sinking. Most of the stuff is obvious now, those who turned Gay….wasnt something we were even thinking about in High School….yeah, we joked…but was it really THAT serious? nah…..

I answered a question on a “How well do i know you” quiz the other day. It asked me whether the person loved or hated high school. And if someone were to ask me if I hated High School…i would say No. It’s simple….High School was easy. It was one of those things where you dont really have to worry about much accept whether or not you’re going to be voted team captain or whether or not your name will show up on the Prom balot. I was, and …it did. High School wasn’t one of those things where ya wake up dreading that you have to sit n class…or be bothered about seeing the ex hugged up on his new girlfriend *your ex best friend* in the hallway….okay, so maybe those were factors…but it wasnt really about that for me. It was fighting over the top position in the class…..*i got salutatorian*, and it was about making sure that my team was the best that I could make it *we still lost*….but in the grand scheme of things, it was about enjoying life…..with nothing to worry about. It was about making sure that at volleyball camp, no one stole my Fozzy *stuffed muffet*. Of course, they could love him all they wanted to…and they did, but making sure he wasnt stolen everynight was an issue. It was about spending time with my friends from Junior High who were now at different schools NOT in the immediate area, two of which will be two of my bridesmaids when i get married. Yep, we’re still cool like that…..It’s about making sure i got to spend time with my cousins I mean, my family was crazy…but whose isnt? :soapbox: Mine was just….a little…..”Extra”….lol…doesnt mean I love em any less….

And mostly it was about friends….high school was just…..cool. With there only being about 3 black girls in the class, it was pretty simple about who was gonna be hangin with who by the end of the year…wish the black male population worked the same way, but hey, with most of the girls being hispanic…I couldnt really blame them. Their pickins were slim in the black area. It was about making sure we got our same table in the Senior Patio. ….yep…the senior patio where, lowerclassmen got hosed down if they step one foot on the grass…..where the teachers got evil looks if they even ventured to try to come and sit. We were a little rough…lol. But I guess the big thing for me was weekends….and hangin with my mom. I think she’s the reason for my shopping addiction.
She’ll prolly kill me when she sees this photo, but I live an hour away..and umm… @ Mom. After my dad died, my mom made an extra effort to be around for all of my volleyball games and school events….it’s rough being a single mom. And i think i had to be “la creme de la crop”……spoiled…..mean…..and…just all around great….dun mean to toot my own horn. but….TOOT *there goes that horn again*…lol…naw, but really…we had a lot of confusion at first because she was the one who used to BAIL ME OUT when i used to get in trouble with my dad…and now …..I was gettin in trouble with her. But we figured it out….we got it together, just in the nick of time…

But you know…she had a lot to work with. WHAT? I was cute for nine….

Anyhow…..I’m glad that things turned out the way they did….I’ve had some great folks in my life…

This was taken in 2002. Me and my soRHOrs. :)

He made Hot Chocolate

10 Apr

ahhh…what a weekend. One of the relaxing time…in fact, as i sit here…my stomach’s full, and my heart is light. :heartbeat: One of those calming Sundays, you dream about from Monday through Friday. Friday afternoon, i left work with one thought on my mind….”Thank God it’s Friday”…when i got to my Friday afternoon destination, we headed out to the mall to do some “exercise in disguise” and shop around a little. It was soo windy out here…but you couldnt tell on Saturday. Saturday morning, i woke up, showered and headed out to my manicure/pedicure appointment. After that, we headed out to my mom’s house where we were met up with JB and Andrea. It was a very cool brunch. Mom made all of our favorite foods and we sat and watched Ladder 49 over brunch. Grandma and Grandpa came over for a while. Grandma made us the brownies that we like. Too bad, i can only eat them in moderation…lol..

guess He made Hot ChocolateAfter brunch, we went out to the Camarillo Outlet Stores…if you’re ever out this way, you should check them out…all the name brand stores with all the name brand items….on sale. :shhh:Guess has to be one of our favorite stores to stop at…and usually the last being that i end up having to tote a bag around after the visit. After we waved goodbye to Andrea and JB, we headed out to the movie theatre to cash in our “free” tickets. Fever Pitch was the movie of choice….and it was just…..OKAY. There were a few funny parts, but it wasnt HIGHLARIOUS. I think if we went to go see “Guess Who” it would have been funnier….but who knows…

Sunday morning, i was prepared to go to the gym and then head out to the Bridal show with Andrea. But, after the gym…my tummy was screaming. :hissy: So as i sit here, having slept it off, stomach FULL of hot chocolate to make me feel better....I think i’ll watch the rest of Sex and the City…..

*sigh* can’t wait until next weekend……

Can you believe it..

1 Apr

It’s Friday…..God time flys….Things have been kinda crazy at work the past few days and i’m pretty sure it’s gonna get even worse…

Business is good…i have no complaints at all…..praise God…

Last night was kind of relaxing…towards the end of the Apprentice, i fell asleep….all that working out with a couple hour of sleep has finally caught up with me, but i have no regrets….and neither do my jeans.

I dont know WHAT we’re doing this weekend, but whatever it is…hopefully it will be very relaxing….cause i need a break.

Anywayssssssssss….have a great weekend e’erybody! I’ll be postin again on Monday.

Today

30 Mar

is a perty okay day…i must say…yay  okay that rhymed and was corny as hell, but who cares…lol…

Between running around this office, filling out business tax forms for our 2004 year, and writing up inventory reports, my boss asked ME for moral advise……how ya like that? Kinda groovy huh?

I was able to sell that stupid phone to someone in NJ…so now i dun have to deal with it….Kyocera phones suck by the way….just to make sure everyone knows…lol..

Anyhow, Jorge’ did a great job in reaction cycle class last night….cause it hurts to stand for too long…and we’ll be back at it again tonight prolly….He was right…DUN GO TO JORGE’S CLASS WITH A FRESH PRESS…lol…i didnt have one, but the little straightness i had kinda KINKED up on me…lol….Time to make that hair appointment.

Good News: i fit into my favorite jeans with no problems…no having to run and jump to get all the way in, no having to lay on the bed to get the zipper up….just 1 leg, 2 leg, pull up, and they’re on. HOLLAR!

and praise God, business is going well….…and things at work are too…I should have a pretty easy few weeks coming up before my vaca….so it’ll be a good next two months, i’m sure….

have a blessed Hump Day everyone!

xoxoxoxoxo

Tuesday Morning…

22 Mar

Guess who got a baaaaaaath… I took Abner to get a fresh Detail this morning, however, that might prove to have been a bad idea. It’s supposed to be rainy for the next two days. Besides the few errands i have to run today, it’s pretty much downtime until i get my ducks in a row for the next big Gibbs Enterprises move. I’m hoping this next venture will be very lucrative, but we’ll see what happens. Prayer always helps, so if you would be so kind as to throw me in, I’d greatly appreciate it.

I think i’m gonna go ahead and start a countdown for the Costa Rica trip being that it’s in June and that’s only about 3 months away. Gives me time to actually save and what not. :twocents:

i cleaned out my car trunk yesterday…WHAT AN EVENT…dun ever do that once every two years….you wind up like me…i cut myself on one of the unrecognizably sharp objects that had been laying dormant in my trunk. :hissy: I suggest cleaning the trunk AT LEAST every 6 months….or hell, dun put nothing in it at all.

I had a whole bunch of stuff left over from sorority road trips and barbeques  it was crazy. Who needs a bag of charcoal in their trunk? Or a can of pringles…God knows how long THOSE had been in there.

After i cleaned my trunk, i went ahead and attached the new license plate frame i got: reference a few posts below. Only took me a few minutes, but it’s on and i dun think it’s going anywhere. Next step is to change my license plates…..but…to what? *sigh* maybe i’ll just get the syquential joints like most everybody else..:shhh:..it’ll be easier to get lost…..but then again with the RHOTTEN plates, my car would probably not be stolen since it would be easy to recognize and find unless they changed the plates first….i’m gonna stop rambling.

I did some minor updates to my site today and did some cruising around blogger to different blogs that i’ve never seen before. :grouphug: Seems more black folks are blogging these days….it’s an upward movement.

welp…that’s it for me today….i’ll probably add that stupid photo of me cutting my hand, and new pictures of the car with the new frame and new detailing… if i can find some time lata….

hope everyone has a Blessed Tuesday….
