what a day

by Courtney Elizabeth · August 1, 2005 · Life ·

Well, it was just as I thought it would be….Jesus has always come through for me….I’m SO loving my new J-O-B. :surprised: Everyone is really young, really cool, really laidback…..and you KNOW how i feel about my Technology. I have to have my dose morning, noon and night…and that’s pretty much what I get. Man, it feels great getting paid for something I love to do….and then to come home and make more?!:thumbsup::thumbsup: TOMA TOMA TOMA! lol

Anyways, today went by pretty quickly just getting accustomed to sleeping in a little later and coming home a little later….but I dont mind….not one bit. The drive is WAY shorter…so I’m not chompin at the bit on the SLOW-0-5. :pissed: I’m actually feeling perty good on the freeway being that it’s only 30 minutes compared to 45 – 1 hour. icon smile what a day

I relied on my Grapeade to get me through the day….I unno ya’ll…it might be my new Strawberry Smoothie. :uhh:

Anyhow, kisses and hugs to incog for helping me to start the day of right….and allowing me to aire my concerns and tell me everything would be okay…

I’m about to go do a grocery run, but I just wanted to give ya’ll an update…. love ya’ll!

God is Good…

by Courtney Elizabeth · July 25, 2005 · Life ·

Okay..I’d like to start this post by saying, “GOD IS GOOD…ALL THE TIME….PRAISES GO UP, and BLESSINGS COME DOWN“….:heartbeat:

I wanted to wait til i had full confirmation….sooo…

A few of you know that I went for my first job interview on Thursday last week…with a company that develops computer security programs over in Century Park East across from the Avenue of Stars.

Well, the interview was probably the best that I’ve ever had, and I was in fact offered two positions with the company *one in the accounting and one in the computer department providing support for clients*. I originally went in for the accounting/office manager position, but when i was in the interview they realized that i could do much more and told me that htere would also be a position opening in the computer support department if i wanted to talk about that while i was in the interview… so i was like “SURE!”….

Anyhow, longer story short….they told me that I was at the top of the top of all the interviews they had so far *because of my experience* and that I should “look forward to hearing from them soon”….

Friday came and I started to worry when i didnt recieve a call….BUT….God is ALWAYS ON TIME.

I received a call this afternoon(monday) *just when i thought my day would only get worse – long story worth $700*, and they offered me a position making almost TWICE than what I’m already making, FREE health and dental *$400 worth*, pre-approved tuition reimbursement for my masters, gym membership reimbursement, 401k and get this……..

they’ll be moving to encino or sherman oaks at the beginning of January..meaning, my drive will be shorter.

You know….God is always on time…and I am SOO appreciative of those who called and prayed with me… I love you guys so very much… Thank you for taking time out of your busy day to drop me a prayer voicemail…

I start my new job Monday….It’s not everyday that you get the job you want without having to interview with 30 different companies….1st shot, 1st offer…THANK GOD! :uhh:

GOD IS GOOD…ALL THE TIME….PRAISES GO UP, and BLESSINGS COME DOWN“….

I hope you all had a Happy & Blessed Monday,

Me? An Elementary School Teacher?

by Courtney Elizabeth · July 21, 2005 · Life ·

That’s a toughy and almost difficult to type….someone approached me when i was standing in line at the cafe in the building where i work this morning…. they said, “eh! did you use to teach at John Muir?” *famous blank stare*

So i said, “What makes you think that?”
He says, “I dunno. You just look official.”

*silence as I stare at him*
*take a drink of my strawberry smoothy, eyes never leaving his face*

I say, “Is that your final response.”
He says, “yeah, i guess….hey, do you come here a lot?”

*as i pick up my order of fries*

My response, “nope”

So I took a survey, if you will…I wanted to know if those who knew me, thought of me as an elementary/middle school type…..these were their responses to the question, “Can you picture me as an elementary school teacher?”:

Lonny….

Alon : yep!
Alon : all the little boys would have a crush on you too.
courtneyelizabeth_com : lol
Alon :
courtneyelizabeth_com : what makes you see me as that?
Alon : you seem like you would be cool with kids
courtneyelizabeth_com : hmmm
Alon : your personality would work in a room full of energetic (another word for badass) kids
courtneyelizabeth_com : hmmm

Jay

jayphillz : yes
jayphillz : i think that you have a personality that would get the willing respect from your kids
jayphillz : you’re more than intelligent enough to teach the next wave of kids
courtneyelizabeth_com : hmmm
jayphillz : you’re not a person of a singular path or interest
jayphillz : so you could offer them in the way of horizon expansion
jayphillz : you have a positive outlook and realistically go about them
jayphillz : only thing i say is
jayphillz : make sure them kids dont start sending you do you like me notes

Elliot

courtneyelizabeth_com : hey
courtneyelizabeth_com : can you picture me as an elementary school teacher?
debonaire6 : kinda sort of. but you don’t seem to be the type. why?
courtneyelizabeth_com : why dont you think i’m the type
debonaire6 : well. when you asked me that, I got this vision of you being the sexy type elementary school teacher teaching hard-headed kids that did nothing but get into trouble and hit on you like they’re grown, but then again I’m just being silly.

So if I really had to consider it…I think i might actually like it. I love kids…but i love OTHER FOLKS’ kids…you know…the kind you can hand back and say, “here, badass was especially bad today…”….I might actually give it somemore thought….

anyhow…..have a blessed day you guys!

PS. I FINALLY POSTED ALL OF MY POETRY!

new moves : day 2

by Courtney Elizabeth · July 21, 2005 · Life ·

I went to my “meeting” yesterday and it went GRRRRRRREAT! * at Coley*

I wasnt sure what to expect, but when a building is located just after Rodeo Drive and the next street over from the Avenue of Stars……what else could you possible expect? lol Everything went smoothly and nicely and I was very proud to have had the opportunity. I just hope things work out *keeping fingers crossed*. In the meantime, I’m not “putting all my eggs into one basket”….keeping things open.

After I got home, I realize JUST HOW MUCH ROAD RUNNER CABLE/DSL SUCKS for giving me a WACK router. Somehow my websites are all blocking MY OWN ip address because I access them so much. SMH. So I bit the bullet this morning and ordered a DLINK CABLE ROUTER on my own. Because the one they gave me, obviously sucks…and after spending an hour on the phone with the guy from RR Support, I realized that they werent going to be able to do anything except come out and see what the problem is *for the FOURTH time*. YEP, they’ve already been to our house three times because i have to restart the router everytime incog wants to use his CPU at the same time as myself…kinda crap is that….anyways, enough techy talk.

So far the morning is going pretty well, besides the fact that I’ve only been here an hour. I just hope things continue to be this quiet, and run this smoothly……

have a blessed day you guys!

PS. To those who tossed up a prayer on my behalf yesterday, I DEFINATELY felt it in the “meeting”.

Stop Peeing in my Cheerios

by Courtney Elizabeth · July 20, 2005 · Life ·

Two ladies met up after a few years of not having talked. They found a nice spot on a log, and swinging their legs, they begin to discuss their marriages and how things had been over the past few years…

Lady 1: OMG! It’s been so long since we talked! How are things with your husband? Wasnt your anniversary celebration recently?
Lady 2: Yes! It was so great! On our 1st wedding anniversary, Harry bought me a diamond bracelet!
Lady 1: Isn’t that nice!
Lady 2: Yep! And on our 2nd wedding anniversary, Harry bought me diamond earings!
Lady 1: Isn’t that nice!
Lady 2: Yep! And on our 3RD wedding anniversary, he bought me a car!
Lady 1: Isn’t that nice!
Lady 2: Sure is! But all this talk about me…..What did your husband get on your anniversary?
Lady 1: Well……on our anniversary, my husband bought me etiquette lessons. So instead of saying “Fuck You!” or “Fucking Bitch!”, I say, “Isn’t that nice!”.

Grr….dont you hate it when you’re having a good day and someone comes along and “Pees in your Cheerios”?
And they KNOW what they’re doing and take pride in trying to sabotage your day….

The person may not necessarily be “negative”, but just have a nack for spoiling what would ordinarily be a happy day. Those people get on my nerves. You just wanna throw a shoe straight for their forhead or make direct contact with your fist.

But while it may make you feel better momentarily…..your negative response is exactly what they’re looking for. It means they’ve won. So I think instead of saying “fuck you”, i’m just gonna start saying, “Isnt that nice”.

Yesterday started off good, middled out to kind of shaky, and after my beautician’s car got stranded, I decided to head home and do some serious COURTNEY shopping. icon razz Stop Peeing in my Cheerios

I went to new york company, then I went to express – ran into janetta (Zeta) who I hadn’t seen in a long time, and I went to the Apple store to see about getting Incog’s Ipod fixed, and then I went to the gym.

I was kind of irritated at Apple because i had gone in on Monday and asked them if they offered immediate service support or if i was going to have to leave it and come back and they told me that it was immediate and to just bring it in. Fine….Great. So when i went yesterday, I walked in and the gentleman told me that I had to make an appointment and that the next available time was TWO HOURS from then. :wtf:

*blank stare*

“Well…….Isn’t that nice”.

*snatch back the Ipod*

Anyhow, I spent a lot of money that I shouldnt have yesterday…Good thing I dont own any credit cards….a tee hee hee… But I was able to get a lot of new clothes for work, so I’m really happy about that. I have a “meeting” at 3 today, so pray for me if you will….

I hope you guys all have a blessed Hump Day!

He smiled at me

by Courtney Elizabeth · July 19, 2005 · Life ·

He was a gentleman in his early 30s and slightly larger…..he was on the elevator this morning…. After I had gotten my morning hot chocolate from the Cafe, I had boarded the elevator expecting to be alone for the ride up to the 14th floor. With hot chocolate, the day’s mail, my coach bag and morning grogginess, I boarded the elevator EXPECTING…….TO BE….ALONE.

But he smiled at me, and said hello….and NOT ONCE on the whole elevator ride up to the 14th floor did his smile fade. His smile made me want to wish him a good day….It was an immediate response from both parties as I exited on the 14th floor and he prepared himself for his exit on the 15th.

You know, God has a way of taking a BLAH morning and turning it into something nice…..There are a lot of nice people in the world, but a lot of time it’s forshadowed by all the NEGATIVE people in the world.

If everyone could have a smile on the elevator like I did, the world would be a better place.

Have a blessed day you guys,

The GRE and New Moves..

by Courtney Elizabeth · July 18, 2005 · Life ·

Well, it’s time to make some educated decisions, and make educated choices…..

I signed up to take the GRE Exam the day before my Birthday *October 6th* at 2pm. And I bought a book for it too…
I’ve decided that in order to get what I want, I’m gonna have to take charge. Meaning: I’m gonna have to find a more suitable position…and get my masters. I’ve been putting everything off like crazy…filled out applications *never sent them*, obtained recommendations *never sealed em*…..just being slow……and it’s time to get things in order. You know me, I always have to have a plan, but this time…I dont have one. All I have are steps….and I’m pretty sure that God will fill in the rest.

A lot of things became EXTRA clear to me this morning..*where’s that damn lightbulb smiley*…it’s time to get back to bein the Old Court like when i started the company and taking charge….

wish me luck…

New Church….

by Courtney Elizabeth · July 17, 2005 · Life ·

I woke up this morning with the thought…

You need to go find that church…get up Courtney

So i hopped on the internet to get the correct address for the church *up the street*, and to see if they had a website that highlighted “what they believed”. I think it’s important to find a Church home that has the same beliefs that you do….and also, so you dont wind up in some type of Cult where they tell you that you should drink some type of *lemonade* instead of grape juice. After milling around for a minute, Incog mentioned the church in Porter Ranch that some of his friends had mentioned and that Lael’s sister goes to, so I kept it in the back of my mind as a trip for next weekend if this Sunday wasnt *for me*.

I got in the car and drove to the church that I had seen many times after hopping off of the 118 Freeway, but realized, it was kind of empty and didnt seem to lively and….well, that’s not what i’m used to. Sooo….I decided to give the church Incog mentioned a try. :couple:

A little background: it’s a particularly new church out here in Northridge/Porter Ranch, CA called The Shepherd of the Hills It sounds dumb, but i knew/felt like it was were I was supposed to be by the fact that when i walked in, I was greeted and felt completely comfortable by my surroundings….:blush:It was a great sermon, today on pornography….mentioning the fact that a few days ago, 6 boys jumped and raped a 13 year old girl in a park out here in Los Angeles, while 9 other people stood, watched, and clapped….:wtf: It made me sick to my stomach….but it brought light to a perspective that is sometimes overlooked…

After church, I headed to the nearby Walmart to pick up a new Bible. I needed something a little bigger than the one i carry around in my purse. My dad gave it to me back in 1989 – he wrote in it and everything, but it’s only the New Testament, and while I find joy in reading Psalms 23 on my way to work in the morning, I still need something to get me through the rest of the week. Don’t get me wrong, I have other “bigger” Bibles, but they are my old Student Bibles and I guess, I need something more…..Adult. icon smile New Church....

All in all, today has started pretty good….soo…
I hope that everyone has a blessed day today and has an excellent start to their week…remember to keep God first in everything you do….

Happy Birthday Mommy!!

by Courtney Elizabeth · July 15, 2005 · Life ·

Today was my mom’s birthday. So i took the day off like I normally do. Since my dad died, I try to fill the void on special days….

Incog and I drove out to her house this afternoon to paint her bedroom wall at her birthday request and to take her to dinner. When we got there, it seemed like it was going to be real easy, but I guess I made it harder than it had to be. You know who decided to get creative and write on the wall before she got started, and ended up having to do several coats to cover up the writing. icon razz Happy Birthday Mommy!! My side of the wall didnt look as good as Incog’s, but I guess that was because he was doing what he was apposed to be doin…. As usual, he acted the counterpart and picked up where I slacked…..guess that’s why I love him so much….:couple:

We went to dinner at The Outback….perty tasty, I must say. After dinner, we drove back to my mom’s, got our stuff together and drove out to the Camarillo Outlets….It was about 8pm, so we werent sure if it’d be open, but it was….inspite of the overcast due to the beach proximity. I purchased two Guess Watches….(1) for work and (1) for fun….We got back to the ridge at about 9:00pm, and headed over to Starbucks so that I could grab my White Chocolate Mocha and Lemon Pound Cake before heading home….

It feels like Saturday, but I’m happy that I get to spend one more day with my babe before he has to go back to work…

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOMMY! I HOPE YOU HAD A GREAT DAY!

I hope you all had a blessed day, and a great weekend.
