Thank God for Backups…

January 16th, 2008

Yesterday, around noon, our whole little private “hill” - community lost power due to the new luxury townhomes that they’re building at the bottom of the hill. I wanted to spit when my computer screen did that whole little surge thing, as I was in the middle of a project.

Oy Vey. But thank God for backups!

I spent yesterday from 12pm until about 5pm…asleep. I mean, there wasn’t anything else to really do. I had already been to the gym, and I was dead tired from getting home super late the night before *womp womp womp - that’s all I have to say about that*.

When incog got here, we went to the mall…yay for picking up my spirits. After that, we went to the movies and watched “The Kite Runner“. Yeah, we’re late, but that was a good movie! So good! It’s one of those dramatic feel goods. I dug it.

By the time we got back home, the power was back on the hill. I was worried about all of the food in the refrigerator, but despite the fact that the power was off for 10 hours, it was still good. Yay!

Thank God for backups…when I powered up the CPU, everything was saved on the server, and I was able to pick up where I left off and meet the deadline that I had today.  Woo hoo!

Get a deep or upright freezer (if you don’t have one already), works like a charm when the power goes out. Just toss what’s in the fridge in there.

If my power went out, I’d probably be cleaning, something I need to be doing now. Toodles!

I was having a lot of power outages when I lived downtown… Phoenix, that is. Man the lights would be off all night sometimes. In the summers, no less. I was always worried about the fridge but my dad told me that the seal on it keeps everything cold. That is, if you don’t open the door a whole lot. lol! So remember that if it happens again… don’t be checking to see if that stuff is still cold and it will be okay… :D

Any reason for the power outages? Am in Dubai at the moment and they’re having them because of a little bit of rain. It’s crazy. First they shut down the city because Pres. Bush was in town. Then they shut it down because they don’t have proper drainage so a little bit of rain causes major flooding!

Anyways, glad you were able to save your work! Where’s the meme???

Wow! I would have probably died a slow death and then cheated it because the power would have came back.

    Ok. I’m corny.

    Teehehhee!

Glad you got to do all your work!

Like NSB said, if you keep the fridge door closed, your food doesn’t spoil.
